Drought & Wildfires: The Future of Wine Country

Napa Valley’s world class wineries face a daunting future as fire insurance and water costs soar under the rapidly growing impacts of wildfire and drought. NYTimes climate correspondent Christopher Flavelle and I talked to nervous owners who’s wineries are are already surrounded by charred landscape and dwindling water supplies as they brace for the upcoming fire season.

Chris writes - ‘If the heat and drought trends worsen, “we’re probably out of business,” said Cyril Chappellet, president of Chappellet Winery, which has been operating for more than half a century. “All of us are out of business.”’
